New QCE Award category shines spotlight on student leadership

30 June 2022

Two new awards – one primary and one secondary – that celebrate outstanding leadership qualities in students, have been added to this year’s Quality Catholic Education (QCE) Awards.

The Student-Led Initiative Awards recognise standout projects prompted by young people. Along with the accolade, the winners will each receive a $4000 prize for their school.

Schools can nominate across the four categories of the QCE Awards, which are informed by the four pillars of Quality Catholic Education (QCE) – Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship.

Nominations for the Awards close on Friday, 12 August.

Online voting for the People’s Choice category opens on Monday, 22 August and closes on Sunday, 11 September. The People’s Choice, voted from all entries, will receive a prize of a three-minute promotional school video.

“The QCE Awards are a fantastic celebration of the incredible values and ethos within our schools and highlight the very best of Catholic Education in Western Australia.”

Wayne Bull, Catholic Education WA Deputy Executive Director

Catholic Education Western Australia Deputy Executive Director Wayne Bull said the new Student-led Initiative Awards would give due recognition to the creativity regularly displayed by students.

“The QCE Awards are a fantastic celebration of the incredible values and ethos within our schools and highlight the very best of Catholic Education in Western Australia. We are now open for nominations and very much look forward to welcoming this year’s projects,” he said.

Winners will be announced and presented at the annual Catholic Education Staff Breakfast on Friday, 14 October at the Hyatt Regency Perth.

The QCE Awards support the growth of programs and initiatives in Catholic schools across Western Australia, aligning with Catholic Education Western Australia’s vision of providing Christ-centred, child-focused, engaged learning environments.
