Catholic school students across the state have excelled in the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) for 2016, with many receiving General Exhibitions and Subject awards for their outstanding achievements.

Seven students from five Catholic colleges were awarded General Exhibitions by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) today, and a student from a sixth Catholic college was awarded the General Exhibition (ATSI).

General Exhitibitions:

• Samuel Carbone – Trinity College
• Evelyn Collier – John XXIII College
• Kayvan Gharbi – Trinity College
• Thomas Franchina – Aquinas College
• Connor Jenkins – John XXIII College
• Latrice Kong – Chisholm Catholic College
• Caitlin Sciorilli – Santa Maria College

General Exhitibition (ATSI):

• Gemma Devitt – Sacred Heart College

Presented to eligible students who obtain the highest WACE award scores in the State, General Exhibitions recognise outstanding academic achievement in ATAR courses.

The General Exhibition (ATSI) is awarded to the eligible Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student who achieves the highest WACE score in the State.

In addition, Subject and VET Exhibitions were awarded to the students obtaining the highest examination mark for each course or the most outstanding performance in a VET Certificate II or higher.

“I congratulate all students who received General Exhibitions, Subject and VET Awards,” Dr McDonald said.

“Their achievements are outstanding and these students, their families, their teachers and their school communities can be very proud of their success.”

Dr McDonald congratulated Year 12 students from Catholic schools across Western Australia on their WACE results.

“All students who completed their WACE this year are to be congratulated for their efforts and achievements.  WACE represents the culmination of many years of dedicated study and effort.  It is a significant milestone and it prepares students for life beyond school,” he said.
