Meet the Executive Director
Wayne Bull
Executive Director
Wayne Bull is the Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia.
Before his appointment to the role of Executive Director, Wayne served as Deputy Executive Director from January 2020 – December 2023. He was a Catholic secondary school principal for nearly twenty years, leading the Lumen Christi and La Salle College communities. Wayne has also held senior leadership positions at Mercedes College and St Brigid’s College. He is a past executive member and President of Catholic Secondary Principals’ Association of WA.
Wayne holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, is a Fellow of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has received a NEiTA Australian Inspiring Educator’s Award and the John Laing Award from Principals’ Australia.
As a father of two children, both of whom have taught in WA Catholic schools, as well as grandfather of seven grandchildren, six of whom attend WA Catholic schools, Wayne has both a professional and personal interest in working collaboratively with the CEWA Executive Team and principals to ensure that the CEWA Christ-centred and child-focused vision of Catholic education is realised.
Wayne was chair of the Lasallian Mission Council of Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Papua New Guinea from 2018 to 2023, and is an active member of his parish, St Anthony’s Greenmount, serving as an acolyte and chair of the parish council.
Wayne has also served as a Commissioner of the Catholic Education Commission (CECWA) of Western Australia from 2012 to 2017, served as the Chair of the School Resources Committee (SRC) of CECWA, and previously held membership of the Religious Education and Curriculum Committee of CECWA.

One in five WA school children attend a Catholic school, and in seven locations in the Kimberley region CEWA is the sole education provider. Yet WA is the only part of Australia, other than the Northern Territory, where Catholic schools do not receive capital grant funding.

A major milestone was marked today on the journey to open WA’s newest Catholic school, St Marcellin Catholic College with shovels in the ground and activity on site ahead of the school opening in 2025.

Name chosen for newest Catholic school in Madora Bay – February 5, 2024
Following confirmation by Archbishop Tim Costelloe SDB, the Apostolic Administrator of the Bunbury Diocese, Catholic Education WA Executive Director Mr Wayne Bull and Foundation Principal, Ms Anita O’Donohue are delighted to announce that Western Australia’s newest Catholic School, which will open in Madora Bay in 2025, will be called St Marcellin Catholic College.
Catholic Education WA Recognises 2023 High Achievers – January 31, 2024
Seventy-six Year 12 graduates from Catholic schools across WA have been recognised as Catholic Education Western Australia Ltd’s (CEWA) high achievers for 2023.
