Catholic schools take 5 out of 8 places in state team for Australasia-Pacific Tournament of Minds finals

Many Western Australian Catholic schools have been making the most of learning opportunities available through the Tournament of Minds competition in recent years.

Following this year's WA regional finals for the problem-solving competition, held recently at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup, five Catholic school teams were announced as part of the eight-team squad that will represent the state at the Australasia-Pacific regional finals, due to take place on the Gold Coast in October.

Teams from Sacred Heart College earned their place competing in the Language Literature Secondary category, Engineering Mathematics Secondary, and Science Technology Secondary, while St John's Primary School will compete in Engineering Mathematics Primary, and Our Lady of Grace Primary School will compete in Social Science Primary.

Tournament of Minds has been taking place annually since 1987, and this year had about 15,000 students participating from schools across Australia, New Zealand and south-east Asia.
