CEWA Student awarded at Masterpieces 2K17 Youth Art competition

03 August 2017

Congratulations to Ella Narido, Year 9 student of Mandurah Catholic College, who won the People’s Choice Award in the Masterpieces 2K17 Youth Art Competition.

In creating her watercolour and ink artwork titled Harmony, she drew from her personal experiences having migrated to Australia from the Philippines three years ago. Ella created a visual representation of the acceptance of cultural and religious diversity in Australia.

Her artwork also placed second for the Judges Award in the 13 -15 years’ category, and was purchased by the Billy Dower Youth Centre in Mandurah to be exhibited in its offices.

The annual Masterpieces exhibition showcases a collection of artworks exploring the current social perspectives of Mandurah’s local youth community, and is open to artists aged between 13 – 25 years.
