Emmanuel College Youth Citizen of the Year

22 February 2018

Emmanuel Catholic College graduate Joe Waters, has been awarded the City of Cockburn Youth Citizen of the Year, for his work in establishing the Boots for the Boys’ charity.

The awards, presented by Mayor Logan Howlett at the City’s annual Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony are presented to outstanding community citizens.

Joe, a 2017 graduate was inspired to create the program after an immersion trip to Warmun, a remote town in the East Kimberley region.

The program, which now extends to communities in Newman and the Western Desert region, aims to collect and give football boots to Aboriginal boys.

Last year, the program collected, cleaned and packed over 100 pairs of boots from donors within the Emmanuel, Mater Christi, St Jerome’s and wider Cockburn community.

Well done Joe!
