REFLECTION ON THE GOSPEL

John 11:3-7, 17, 20-27, 33-45

John’s gospel does not speak of miracles but of signs. There are seven of these and the raising of Lazarus is the last of the seven. Like the man born blind, this sign points to Jesus as the Son of God and to the glory of God.

Lazarus represents all those whom Jesus loves, those for whom he came into the world. The reading stresses that Jesus is the resurrection and eternal life for us.

DEEPENING MY COVENANT WITH GOD

Television, newspapers and articles, Facebook, and the computer etc. All these can be grounds for us to be given information that separates us from Jesus. Peace, justice, kindness, goodness, and prayer should be our aim. This week, become aware of the many things that can separate you from your relationship with God. Take a moment to change the image they represent so you live more in the way of God.

PRAYER

O God, our Father,

increase in us the strength to reach out to you,

to be more aware of all you have done for us.

Free us from the problems that stop us being closer to you,

so that we may be people of the resurrection and new life.

Amen
