Free flu vaccination to protect children

03 May 2023

All children aged 6 months and over should get their free annual vaccination to protect against the risks of influenza.

Influenza, or the flu, is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications, including pneumonia. Vaccination offers the best protection.

Each year children are admitted to hospital in WA with flu or flu-like illness. Most of these children are otherwise healthy with no underlying medical conditions.

Influenza vaccination is free for all WA kids aged 6 months and older.

This May, WA Health will offer free flu vaccinations to all Western Australians aged 6 months and over. Children can continue to receive the free vaccine throughout the flu season.
