Mater Christi’s Dad’s Campout given thumbs up

29 November 2023

Community building, laughter, and meaningful connections between father/father figures and their children was the goal of this years’ Dad’s Campout event, held onsite at Mater Christi Catholic Primary School on 4 and 5 November 2023.

Participants began the day by setting up camp together. Campout facilitators from the school’s Parent and Friends group said, “Events like this play a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and unity among the school community, making them an invaluable part of the overall educational experience.”

Imogen, Year 6 said, “I had a fun time with my dad and enjoyed quality time with him. I especially liked going down the water slides and waking up and having breakfast with everyone.”

“I liked the food, water slides, fire truck and sleeping in the truck with dad,” Andrew and Preston, Year 2 said.

Parent Irwin Swinny said the campout was the perfect opportunity to slow down and enjoy this special time with his child.

“Not only was it a great chance for the kids and dads to do something together but also for the dads to get to know each other beyond the normal rushed pick up and drop off conversation.”

Parent Vinnie Ferraro added, “The Campout was a great way to bond with the kids with the unique experience of being able to camp on school grounds Our kids got to hangout with their friends too and get to know their dad’s/carers. It was a well organised event which kept everyone entertained from start to finish. I’m looking forward to attending next year!”
