St John’s School debuts new outdoor learning environment

12 June 2017

After a two-year consultation and creation process with landscape architects PLAN E, St John’s School has officially opened their new outdoor play area and both students and staff are very excited about the transformation!

The Early Childhood play space has been transformed into an incredible climbing and exploration area that utilises every part of the space, and provides endless opportunities for play and outdoor learning.

Mrs Mary Bizzaca, school principal, and her leadership team were looking for an opportunity to create new spaces that would provide a good variety and balance of challenging natural elements, which she and the team found in PLAN E’s vision.

PLAN E Director Adam Lange said “Whenever we embark on a project such as this, we like to strike a good balance between exposing children to character building risk while still creating safe and stimulating spaces to learn and play”.

“What an incredible gift to our young children to have this outdoor play experience ahead of them,” Mary said.
