Teachers, is the ‘Kimberley Calling’?

01 August 2022

Catholic Education WA is currently seeking applications for 2023 full time teaching positions in Broome Diocesan schools.

As part of the innovative recruitment initiative ‘Kimberley Calling’, several information sessions will be held detailing the unique opportunity to live, learn and serve in the Catholic school communities of the Kimberley.

Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary trained teachers are encouraged to attend to learn more about the qualities and skills being sought in the pursuit of providing two-way, contextual, purposeful and engaging learning and teaching opportunities for students in remote WA regions, many of whom are from a First Nations background.

Professional learning priorities will be outlined so attendees are aware of the supports in place to enhance the ability of teachers to be trauma informed, culturally responsive and confident in differentiated curriculum delivery for students for whom Standard Australian English is an additional language or dialect. Opportunities for leadership in areas of Religious Education, Curriculum and Administration will also be explored.

The richness of each community, located in its own unique and glorious landscape will be showcased, along with accounts from those who have gone before, sharing valuable insight into life giving and transformative experiences built on strong, respectful relationships, an open heart and a desire to walk and work together with the community.

Information on facilities, practical considerations and generous employment conditions, including, but not limited to, housing provision, relocation costs, travel provision, subsidies and financial incentives will be outlined.

Applications for Relief Teachers who can commit to two weeks to one year stints in the Kimberley are also encouraged, while secondments are also considered.

If it sounds like the Kimberley is calling you, please register your attendance at one of the sessions.

Information sessions will be held on Thursday, 18 August from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and Saturday, 20 August from 10am to 12 noon at the Catholic Education Centre in Leederville

CEWA will also be holding an online information session on Monday, 22 August from 2.00pm to 3.30pm on Microsoft Teams through this link.
