CEWA students Speak for Faith

17 August 2017

The Catenians Catholic School Speaking Competition, Speak for Faith, concluded recently with the final round held at the Catholic Education Centre in Leederville.

After delivering 5 minute speeches based on their Religious Education learning, competitors had two minutes each to respond to impromptu questions. Over two nights a total of seventeen students from CEWA schools and colleges participated.

Gabriella Ochtman, a Year 12 student from St Joseph’s School in Northam, was awarded first place, with Year 12 College mate Meg Lawrence earning second place. Nelson Tshongo, in Year 12 at Mercy College, took out third spot.

The adjudicators remarked on the high standard of preparation and presentation by all competitors, who were each given a certificate of participation by the Catenian Association of WA in recognition of their efforts.

The competition first ran in 2016, and after a successful second year the organisers are planning to run it again in 2018.
