Mel Maria CPS dual-campus model celebrated in first week of school

06 February 2025

There’s an exciting new chapter for Catholic education in Attadale and Myaree as Mel Maria Catholic Primary School officially launched its new dual-campus model.

The model is a first for Catholic education in Western Australia and embodies the school’s commitment to delivering a high-quality Catholic education that nurtures and celebrates every child’s academic, spiritual, and personal development.

Under the model one campus will be dedicated to early childhood education (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2) with another campus dedicated to Primary (Year 3-6). The model will see one campus embracing a holistic learning approach that integrates play-based, inquiry-driven pedagogy and explicit instruction. Whilst the Year 3-6 campus is designed to benefit the diverse social and emotional development for children and keep them together as they prepare to embark on secondary education.

CEWA’s Director of School Improvement and Wellbeing, Dan Wood joined Principal, Paul Hille and Mel Maria’s staff and students to mark the occasion.

Dan said:

“I know that significant planning and collaboration from Principal, Paul Hille, and his staff has gone into setting the vision and strategy for this new dual-campus model, and as we commence a new school year, it is exciting as we see it become a reality and officially launch what is a first for Catholic education in WA.

“We strive to be create happy and successful children who we are proud of…”

Dan Wood, CEWA’s Director of School Improvement and Wellbeing

“This new dual-campus model, with an Early Childhood Education Campus for Pre-Kindergarten to Year Two here in Myaree and a Primary Campus for Year Three to Year Six in Attadale, is an example of educational innovation and excellence which embodies all that we understand as a quality Catholic education.

“As Director of School Improvement and Wellbeing, I can see how this innovative restructure has been designed to better meet the holistic needs of all students, creating vibrant learning environments, and establishing a clear identity for the early childhood and primary stages of learning.

“As we reflect on the school’s motto ‘We strive to be create happy and successful children who we are proud of… we are more than a school, we are a community- united by our motto, Unity is Strength’, I acknowledge and thank the whole of community approach in setting a vision, planning and delivering upon infrastructure and processes that we celebrate today, knowing the growth and success that will follow for years to come for all members of the community, especially the students.”

The launch of Mel Maria’s dual-campus model marks an exciting step forward for CEWA, reinforcing the school’s commitment to #MakingADifferenceEveryday in the lives of its students.
