CEWA student wins world Muay Thai title

Year 10 Mandurah Catholic College student, Shannon Gardiner has taken out the Muay Thai world title in her age group.

After impressing judges at the 2017 Australian National Championships, Shannon was selected to represent Australia at the International Federation of Muay Thai Amateur (IFMA) Youth World Championships in Thailand.

Following ten weeks of dedicated training in preparation for the World Championships, Shannon competed in August along with over 1000 competitors from 79 countries.

Shannon was successful in every round, with some very impressive fights resulting in her claiming the championship in her age and weight category (14-15 years, 60kgs).
