CEWA Students State Champions at Tournament of Minds

18 October 2017

Congratulations to Our Lady of Grace (OLG) Primary School students who competed in the Tournament of Minds (TOM) competition last month, with two of the school’s four teams making it through to the TOM Australasian Pacific Finals (APF) taking place in Adelaide on 28 October.

Celebrating 30 years of excellence this year, TOM is a problem-solving program for primary and secondary school students that develops students’ skills in enterprise, time management, and team work.

Made up of students from years five and six, the Social Sciences and Science Technology teams won first place in their disciplines at the WA State Finals, facilitated by their teachers Lisa Meyers and Nerida Hince, respectively.

Josie Hicks from OLG’s Social Sciences team said, “We are all so proud and excited to be representing Western Australia at the finals in Adelaide. We get to meet and compete against so many brilliant and creative students and develop many valuable skills!”

Congratulations to all of the following primary school teams who will be representing WA in Adelaide in October:

  • Primary Language Literature: Whitford Catholic Primary School
  • Engineering Mathematics: St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls
  • Social Sciences: Our Lady of Grace Primary School
  • Science Technology: Our Lady of Grace Primary School

Approximately 900 primary and secondary students from 62 schools across Western Australia competed this year – well done to OLG students for your outstanding achievement!
