Mandurah Catholic College celebrates Silver Jubilee with a special memento

09 November 2017

Three unique glass crosses have been unveiled as a fitting finale to Mandurah Catholic College’s 25th anniversary celebrations this year.

As a Silver Jubilee gift to the College, Principal, Mr Chris Wallace and the P&F Association approved the production and acquisition of three original hand cut and fused glass crosses, crafted by students at Prendiville Catholic College under their TIDE curriculum.

MCC students and staff participated in the design process with the college’s unique charism foremost in their design concepts. All three designs include the college crest and circle to symbolise the eternal and all-encompassing nature of God. The individual designs also reflect the college identity and colours, its unique coastal location and indigenous ties to the environment.

The crosses were unveiled at SPARK, the college’s visual arts exhibition, last week and in acknowledgement of the anniversary milestone, the exhibition showcased artworks by students from Kindergarten to Year 12 for the first time.

Other celebratory events held throughout the year have included a family day picnic, a staff soiree (for past and present staff members), and the production of a whole college photo.

The 25th Anniversary Patron’s Day was especially significant, with Bishop Gerard Holohan celebrating Mass with the entire college student and staff body (over 2000 people), as well as invited guests which included past principals and board members.
