Primary Principals’ Wellbeing Project findings expected early 2018

24 November 2017

Earlier this year Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) began work with Professor Donna Cross of the Telethon Kids Institute on the Primary Principals’ Wellbeing Project, a research project into the health and wellness of principals.

Designed and implemented in partnership with the Catholic Primary Principals’ Association, 50 Catholic Primary School Principals participated in the project with the aim of investigating principal wellbeing and resilience, and understanding how they relate to physical health, school size and school socio-economic status.

The research was recorded using Apple Watches that were distributed to each principal, and loaded with a bespoke app named ‘Resilience’, which captured biometric data of participants as well as in the moment responses to survey questions.

The research period for the project concluded on 5 November, and the findings are now being collated with the outcome of the research expected in early 2018.

It is intended that the findings will positively influence future policy and professional learning opportunities to better support the Catholic principals in Western Australia, and in turn benefit students and school communities alike.
