CEWA Colleges continuing to support Aboriginal students’ WACE success

Four young Aboriginal women were awarded Certificates of Merit following completion of Year 12 at WA Catholic colleges in 2017.
Three of the girls live in the Perth metro area, completing their studies at Servite College, Mercy College and Holy Cross College, while one, from Kununurra, attended Iona Presentation College.
Certificates of Merit, awarded by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), acknowledge consistently high achievement through Year 11 and 12.
The girls’ noteworthy achievement in 2017 continues recent outstanding WACE achievement by Aboriginal students at CEWA colleges, after three Certificates of Merit, a Certificate of Distinction, and the General Exhibition (ATSI) awards were presented to Aboriginal CEWA students in 2016.
“These young women, with the support of family and educators, have exemplified hard work and commitment throughout their senior school years, and it is wonderful to see them recognised for their impressive results,” said Dr Debra Sayce, CEWA Acting Executive Director.
“The example they have provided in their dedication to learning is an inspiration for all young people, not least for young women in the final years of secondary school,” she said.
