Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) was proud to sponsor two categories at the recent Western Australian Young Achiever Awards held at the Pan Pacific Perth on 31 May.

Acting Executive Director, Dr Debra Sayce, presented Noongar woman Shelley Cable (23) with the CEWA Young Leadership Award for her work in Indigenous empowerment through economic and financial freedom.

She is undertaking CPA Australia studies and is passionate about Indigenous business and financial inclusion.

Shelley presented recommendations on financial literacy to the UN which were accepted and formally endorsed and she co-directed the social media campaign ‘100 Days of Deadly Mob’, promoting 100 Indigenous heroes, reaching over one million readers.

Shelley was elected to attend the Uluru Convention on Constitutional Reform, which resulted in forming the Uluru Statement.

CEWA also sponsored the People’s Choice Award which went to talented Esperance cinematographer and photographer Jaimen Hudson.

Jaimen also won the The Diamond Club Online Achievement Award.
