Nominations open for Narragunnawali Awards 2019
26 February 2019
CEWA schools, colleges and early learning centres are encouraged to enter the Narragunnawali Awards 2019, with a chance to win $10,000 to support their reconciliation initiatives.
Held every two years, the Narragunnawali (pronounced narra–gunna-wally) Awards is Australia’s first national honour program for reconciliation in education.
Designed to recognise and celebrate educational environments – across the government, Catholic and independent sectors – the awards acknowledge strengthening relationships, building respect, and providing meaningful opportunities in the classroom, around the school or early learning service, and with the community.
The aim is to support all Australian schools and early learning services to develop environments that foster a higher level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.
With more than 2500 Aboriginal students and more than 100 Aboriginal Teaching Assistants in our schools across Western Australia, and the system-wide Transforming Lives: Strategy 2025, CEWA is committed to creating outstanding learning environments for young Aboriginal people and their families.
