Youth festival features local and international stars

25 June 2019

Registrations have opened for the 2019 Australian Catholic Youth Festival, which will be held in Perth from 8 to 10 December.

The three-day event is likely to be one of the largest gatherings of Catholic Church in Australia and is expected to draw 5000 young people from across the nation.

The festival aims to provide young people from Year 9 to 30 years with opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to be disciples and encounter and celebrate the vitality of the Church in Australia.

To help achieve these goals, this year the ACYF will feature some highly-revered Catholic presenters from Australia and around the world.

Keynote speakers include young United States evangelist Katie Prejean McGrady who employs a unique blend of encouragement, humour and storytelling.

One of America’s most exciting Catholic performers, musician and emcee Joe Melendrez will perform his hits.

After appearing on MTV at 15, Joe later decided to dedicate his life to sharing the Good News and now has his own faith-based clothing line (God Swagg Apparel) and has released four studio albums.

Australia’s own festival favourite Fr Rob Galea will return to share his heart and passion at ACYF19.

The priest/singersongwriter founded FRG Ministry and has an international fan base.

And Perth’s home-grown founder of international human rights group the Walk Free Foundation, Grace Forrest, will share on her mission to end modern slavery.

ACYF’s theme in 2019 Listen to what the Spirit is saying is in keeping with Plenary 2020, meaning this year’s event will be a vital opportunity for Australia’s Catholic youth to explore and share their vision of what they see for the future of the Catholic Church.

Groups and individuals can register online at www.acyf.org.au.
