Dads and kids unite for colourful fundraiser

27 September 2019

A special Father’s Day Colour Run hosted by Margaret River’s St Thomas More Catholic Primary School doubled up as a valuable charity fundraiser in Term Three.

Dozens of fathers and their children turned out for the fun-filled event, being doused in colour while jogging laps together.

Apart from being a successful bonding exercise for the many dads and their kids, the event raised more than $1,200 to be shared between Catholic Mission, Conquer Cystic Fibrosis South-West, and the River Angels.

River Angels is a Margaret River community charity supporting local families dealing with cancer.

School principal Russell Wylie lauded the event’s success.

All of these charities support individuals and families in our region, so it was great to give back to our community,” he said.

“Our amazing Parents and Friends’ Committee provided a free sausage sizzle following the event, which was a great way to end the day and allow for many of our working fathers to spend some time at the school and talk with other parents.”

The event’s success was also shared on the Conquer Cystic Fibrosis South-West Facebook page, with a post thanking the school for being “…a valued supporter of cystic fibrosis, thanks to Arrabella Lawrence, an inspirational advocate and student living with cystic fibrosis,”.
